Searching through the depths of YouTube yields all sorts of results, most of which are unsettling. However, if you stumble across the music video for Modesty by Swedish group The Fix, you will be pleasantly surprised. The music is obnoxiously likable, the lyrics aggressively charming and the video itself is visually engulfing. It has all the makings of a VH1 Top 10 Video. But it isn’t, so you still get the added benefit of bragging to your friends that the music you like is more “indie.” And The Fix truly epitomize that independent band ideal. Modesty, for example was all shot, directed, and edited by the band’s guitarist, Erik Althoff, with additional effects contributed by two friends of the band.
