Joseph Kony may already be dead. In any case, Kony has not been heard from in over a year, and the Lord’s Resistance Army has been out of Uganda since 2006. When Invisible Children’s famous viral hit, “Kony 2012,” was shown in Uganda, the members of the audience were horrified at how the video portrayed their country. “It is totally misleading to suggest that the war is still in Uganda,” Fred Opolot, a spokesman for the Ugandan government, told The Telegraph. “I suspect that if that’s the impression they are making, they are doing it only to garner increasing financial resources for their own agenda.” Invisible Children’s role in the Kony 2012 campaign is indeed suspect.
